  1. Wait until the open Social project spearheaded by Google comes to fruition in a few months, then u would be raving about orkut too.. (since it would have a lot more applications than face book)

  2. I think an interest in social networking will continue to grow and be more accepted by companies and organizations like NASA, Egglepple, IBM, Diz, and others which will make orkut way more relevant than the rest. Facebook is limited, and I can’t believe Microsoft would do something so dumb as spend all that $$ investing in them. Combine the OpenSocial idea with something like Sony’s ‘Home’ for the PS, and you start to see the potential of orkut.

  3. I do agree with noshtradamus facebook is cool & well designed. Presently it would beat orkut anytime due to its clean design layout, privacy features & applications. Even if googles open social project succeeds I would still prefer facebook due to its clean interface. Unfortunately I still have to use orkut because many of my friends & relatives r still using orkut .. its tough to convince them to change .. I hope i could some day.

  4. Also another important point. On Facebook, you’ll find more people from smaller towns like Shimla, Chandigarh, Agra… even Pune. While Facebook caters to a more ‘global audience’.

    • lol! interesting question, thanks.
but just because i am in a social networking site, doesn’t mean any and everyone can jump onto me!
it’s like saying you have a right to go up to a stranger and talk him/her, just because he/she is sitting in a bar.
even in real life social gatherings, it is usually of people with common interests – a neighbourhood, a special interest, etc.
orkut leaves you open to all and sundry. i am sorry, but that i don’t like :)
