Playing Games with Solaris

It was the late 1990s. Most companies in India hadn’t started using computers, and if they did, they knew little about the Operating System and Software inside. And we were entrusted with the task of selling Solaris, the most advanced UNIX operating system for PCs to them.

Our brief from TCS was simple. Simplify, and visualise its usage and advantages. And the biggest benefit we discovered, was ‘scalability’. Which led to the tagline ‘as scalable as your mind’ and a four-ad campaign that demonstrated the scalability of Solaris. The headlines and copy are self-explanatory. And the rest, as they say, is history!
